One of the most popular questions we get asked at the practice is “which brand of electric toothbrush do you recommend?” This comes up fairly often, the answer is, you honestly can’t go wrong with either brand, but for most people, we recommend Philips Sonicare.

The difference between the two brands:

Oral-B brushes use a rotary-motion where the circular brush-head spins left and right, while also incorporating a pulse. The brush heads are small allowing you to move the brush comfortably throughout your mouth, cleaning hard to reach places. Battery life typically lasts around 1.5 weeks. Depending on the model, the price point can range from $25 - $140.

Philips Sonicare brushes move side-to-side in a “sonic” motion. The larger oval-shaped brush head is bigger than the Oral B head reaching more than just one tooth at a time. The battery life lasts a little longer than Oral B, you can go without charging your brush for at least 3 weeks. The price point for this brand can range from $50 - $200, check out the various options on Amazon!

Sonicare brushes are generally more expensive because they have a longer-lasting battery life which makes this brand a better long term investment.

Studies show that electric toothbrushes are more effective at reducing plaque and gingivitis than using a manual toothbrush, Refer one friend or family member to the practice and RECEIVE a $100 CREDIT towards the ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH of your choice!
